Part of the healing process of recovering from trauma is letting the tears just flow freely. Instead of fighting them off, embrace them as you listen to this song!
I believe a huge key to healing is KNOWING in the depths of your soul that God is good. KNOW that He didn't leave you in your place of pain, and KNOW that He has a good future for you!
My favorite attribute of God is that He is faithful! Even though humans let us down, abandon us and even hurt us. our Heavenly Father doesn't!
A healthy view of a former life of abuse is that it is your Egypt, so this song is a great reminder! I especially love the part that says "You stepped into my Egypt & took me by the hand, you marched me out in freedom - into the Promised Land!" God NEVER told His people to go back to Egypt - so He NEVER asks His children to go back to a life of abuse!
Singing this is a great declaration over yourself that you aren't a slave to fear - you are a child of God!
The truth of this song just hits so hard! Even though we have scars, they remind us that our brokenness is something God can use!
Again, KNOW that God is good! There is something so freeing, empowering and beautiful about praising God for his goodness!
I have a very distinct memory of the first time I heard this song at church, while I was still living in abuse. I promised God right there that I would Praise Him even when my circumstances hadn't changed. It's an amazing reminder that God is with us in the valley!
This one holds special significance for me because I heard it for the first time 1 week before my family rescued me. I had no idea as I blared it and sang it at the top of my lungs that it was prophetic. My help was on the way! As I have walked through the healing journey, it brings me such comfort to know Jesus is still helping me.
